Frequently asked questions
Does Prism connect to my bank or brokerage?
No. Prism is a manual tracker — you enter your holdings yourself. There are no Plaid, Yodlee, or Open Banking integrations and no read-only credentials are ever requested. This means zero risk of credential leakage and full availability outside the United States.
How does Prism handle multiple currencies?
Each asset is stored in its native currency (USD, CNY, AUD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, or HKD). Prism converts to your chosen display currency in real time using Yahoo Finance FX rates, cached for 24 hours. You can switch the display currency on every page.
What is the FIRE Tracker?
The FIRE Tracker calculates your path to Financial Independence using the Trinity Study 4% rule. It computes your FI Number (annual expenses × 25), savings rate, and years to FI based on monthly income, expenses, and expected return. It also shows Lean FI, Regular FI, Fat FI, and Coast FI milestones.

What asset types does Prism support?

How Prism calculates your numbers
FX rates are pulled from Yahoo Finance every 24 hours and applied to each asset's native currency. Stock, crypto, and metal prices refresh every 10 minutes. The FI Number uses the Trinity Study 4% rule (annual expenses × 25). Years to FI assumes constant real returns and contributions. Daily snapshots run at midnight UTC.
